EDLD 5318 - Instructional Design
Designing From Lemonade Stand to CEO began with a backward-design approach grounded in Wiggins & McTighe’s Understanding by Design framework. I started by identifying the culminating performance task, the CEO Pitch, and then aligned outcomes, assessments, and learning activities that intentionally scaffold toward entrepreneurial thinking, financial literacy, and applied mathematics. The course structure reflects research-based design principles from Fink’s Significant Learning Experiences and Bates’ work on purposeful technology integration. Canvas LMS served as the central hub, allowing me to build a clear, predictable module sequence supported by micro-lectures, strategic digital tools, and opportunities for creativity and reflection. The final design balances rigor, accessibility, and real-world relevance for upper-elementary and middle school learners.
